Almost 150 domestic and foreign guests from eight countries are present in the international event.
The ECO Confobition is aimed at introducing economic and tourism capacities of Ardabil and the entire Iran.
Secretary General of the Iranian National Committee of ECO Mohammadreza Karbasi told reporters that the Ardabil tourism conference is a good opportunity to introduce Iran’s tourism capacities and attractions to the world.
Iran’s capabilities in the area of health have no rival in the region, and the issue can be demonstrated to participants, Karbasi said.
It is predicted that the three-day Ardabil ECO event will focus on important international issues, the official added.
Sarein is the hub of hot springs in Ardabil Province, with 118 pools for water therapy by the hot sulfuric water coming out of the ground.
About 800,000 foreign tourists visit Iran’s Ardabil annually, said the Deputy Governor General of Ardabil Province Behrouz Nedayee during a visit of ECO members to Sheikh Safi al-Din Khanegah (Shrine) in the province.
Nedayee noted that Azerbaijani citizens accounted for most of the tourists visiting Ardabil.
Azerbaijanis visit the province mainly for medical treatment, trade and sightseeing, he added.
Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are members of ECO.
