Iran, Russia sign nine pacts to expand economic ties

Tehran and Moscow signed nine agreements in the closing ceremony of the 15th joint economic cooperation meeting of Iran and Russia in the central city of Isfahan on Tuesday.

The final document of the 15th joint economic cooperation meeting of Iran and Russia in Isfahan was signed by Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian and his Russian counterpart, Alexander Novak, reported Fars News Agency.

Novak said on Monday that both Tehran and Moscow are resolute to further increase bilateral ties in all areas, particularly in economic fields where Washington has put its weight to isolate Iran.

Novak gave assurances that the current event in the historical city of Isfahan will help develop economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

On Sunday, in a meeting with Minister of North Caucasus Affairs Sergei Chebotarev, Ardakanian said that Tehran adopted a mechanism to facilitate partnership between the Iranian and Russian private sectors in a bid to help bolster economic ties.

Meanwhile, Chebotarev described the political determination of Iranian and Russian presidents as the most important means to ensure the timely implementation of development projects on both sides.

Necessary structures have been created by the Russian government, he said, adding that all Russian organizations have put promoting relations with Iran on their agenda.
