Chinese director: Iranian cinema becoming more significant in the world

Iranian filmmakers are well-trained to use intact subjects in their films, a Chinese director Wang Fan said, adding that not all filmmakers are able to make expressive films from simple subjects.

She made the statement on the sidelines of Shanghai International Film Festival, adding that Iranian directors are famous throughout the world and they are able to make great films which are of competitive nature, reported.

Progress of Iranians filmmaking in the region and the world is a good experience for all cinema experts, she said.

“The subjects and themes of Iranian films are international and directors in Iran can make the best films out of very simple subjects”, she said.

Speaking about the importance of interaction between Iranian and Chinese cinemas, Wang said that cinema can transfer art and culture.

Iranian style of filmmaking is unique in the world and is invaluable for the world cinema industry, she said.

All filmmakers including Chinese are eager to expand their cooperation with Iran, she said, adding that Iranian films are important at international level.

“China has signed co-production agreements with 22 countries. Similar agreements between Iran and China underway, and will be signed by the end of this year,” Miao Xiaotian, GM of the China Film Co-Production Corporation said on June 17.

The festival which opened on June 15 and will continue until June 24 will screen several Iranian films.
