The 26th International Tile, Ceramic and Sanitary Ware (CERAFAIR 2019) opens today in the Iranian capital of Tehran.
Italy, Spain and China are among the countries taking part in the Iranian expo, according to IRNA.
The exhibition is held in an area covering over 16,000 square meters on the Tehran International Permanent Fairgrounds.
Elaborating on the fair on Friday, Mohammad Roshanfekr, the head of the Iranian Ceramic Producers Syndicate, said the expo will be open to visitors until July 3rd.
He added that 160 domestic firms will take part in the fair to display the latest achievements of the Iranian tile and ceramic production industry.
In the year to March 2019, Iranian producers produced 400 million square meters of tiles and ceramics, Roshanfekr said, adding the installed capacity of domestic production units is up to 40 percent higher than the supply of the products.
“In the early years of the 1990s, Iran was among the world’s top five producers and exporters of tile and ceramics. Currently, given the present international circumstances, Iran is ranked the world’s ninth or 10th exporter [of these two products]. It has maintained its fifth global position in terms of [tiles and ceramics] production.”
Grade A Iranian products will be put on display at the expo, he said, noting that a number of contracts are expected to be signed with foreign companies during the fair.
Roshanfekr added today, Iran’s tiles and ceramics meet modern international standards and have a very high quality.
Iran’s tiles and ceramics can find their way into the markets of European countries as well as those of Australia, Canada and Mexico due to their competitive prices, he said.
