Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message referred to the US shooting down of Iranian passenger plane 31 years ago, saying the US aggression against Iran did not begin with Trump.
"31 years ago today, the US warship shot down #IR655—a passenger jet—over Iran's territorial waters, killing 290 innocents incl 66 children. US aggression against Iran did not begin with @realdonaldtrump," Zarif tweeted on Wednesday.
Iran Air Airbus A300 was shot down by a surface-to-air missile fired from the USS Vincennes warship over the Persian Gulf on July 3, 1988. The attack claimed the lives of 290 civilians, including 66 children and 53 women, IRNA reported.
