Latest int’l award for Kiarostami heads to museum

The latest international accolade by the great Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami was transferred to the Cinema Museum of Iran.

On the third death anniversary of Kiarostami, the Eurasian International Film Festival posthumously awarded the renowned director with another international award which will be housed at the filmmaker’s awards and memorabilia display case at the Cinema Museum of Iran, ifilmtv.com wrote.

In its 14th edition, the Eurasian International Film Festival held a ceremony honoring the memory of Kiarostami by dedicating a special prize to the late director of the classic ‘Where is the Friend’s Home?’ which was then presented as a gift to the Cinema Museum of Iran by the critically acclaimed director’s son, Bahman Kiarostami.

The award, along with the Iranian film industry’s first Palme d’Or award from the Cannes Film Festival, as well as Kiarostami’s other accolades and memorabilia are on display for the public at the Cinema Museum of Iran’s International Hall.

Kiarostami died on July 4, 2016, at age 76, in Paris while undergoing treatment.
