IAC chief: ‌ Jajarm aluminum plant creates 400 direct jobs

Jajarm aluminum plant that is inaugurated in the northeastern Iranian province of North Khorasan has created 400 direct jobs, said the managing director of Iran Alumina Company (IAC).

Touraj Zare added after becoming operational, the plant also generated 1,600 indirect jobs, according to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization.

The plant’s production capacity in the first phases of its development stands at 40,000 tons per annum. Once fully implemented, the complementary phases of the plant will help increase its production capacity to 110,000 per year.

Close to €94 million in foreign currency and $54.04 million in rial were invested in the project to build the plant.

The plant began trial production of aluminum ingot in March 2019. In July, its production of aluminum ingot reached 1.282 tons.

The plant will be officially inaugurated today, as per a directive by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, in a ceremony to be attended by Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani.
