Parisian official: France, Iran both enjoy love of art and culture

Iran ranks sixth among 100 countries of Cité Internationale des Arts

France, Iran both enjoy the love of art and culture, the director general of Cité Internationale des Arts said.

Bénédicte Alliot made the statement in her meeting on Monday with Iran’s Deputy Culture Minister for Art Affairs Mojtaba Hosseini.

She added that Iran’s deep-rooted culture is a global heritage, of which the Persian poet Ferdowsi’s magnum opus, ‘Shahnameh,’ is an example.

According to IRNA, Iranian artists are of special status in international fields; they rank sixth among the 100 countries of Cité Internationale des Arts, she said.

Highlighting the status of art in Iran, she said that Iran’s presence in Cité Internationale des Arts is a great opportunity to introduce Iranian art to the world.

Hosseini said that Iran’s art has developed considerably during the last four decades and its art assets could be so inspiring for Iranian and foreign artists.

He said that the names of professional Iranian artists who hold novel ideas and can introduce Iran’s contemporary art to the world will be presented to the French foundation.

The Cité Internationale des Arts is an artist-in-residence building which accommodates artists of all specialties and nationalities in Paris. It comprises two sites, one located in the Marais and the other in Montmartre.
