Iran’s Nader Moradi grabbed a silver medal at the 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
On Tuesday, Moradi – representing the country in the men’s 72kg contest – lifted the 202kg weight in his second attempt – having failed the first one – to secure a second-spot finish.
The 2012 Paralympics gold medalist, however, came short in his final lift (210kg) to challenge China’s Peng Hu, who took the gold with 209kg.
Nigerian Nnamdi Innocent finished third with 190kg.
Amir Ja'fari had opened the account for Iran with a men’s 65kg bronze on the preceding night, after he hoisted 197kg.
Some 400 weightlifters represent 78 countries in the competitions in the capital city of Kazakhstan on July 12-20.
