‘Copper Notes of a Dream’, Iran’s sole representative at Locarno

Iranian film ‘Copper Notes of a Dream’ by Reza Farahmand is slated to go on screen as the sole representative of Iran at the 72nd Locarno Film Festival.

The Semaine de la Critique, an independent section within the Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland, announced the lineup for its upcoming edition slated for August 7-17, reported.

The documentary tells the story of Mallouk, a ten-year-old boy who collects the copper wire along with his friends. They gather the wire from homes demolished during war and sell the collection in order to make a living. Their passion for the pursuit of a childhood dream, however, lightens the warmth of hope in their hearts, enabling them to find happiness among the ruin.

Founded in 1990, the Semaine de la Critique annually shows seven documentary films, all having either their world or international premieres.

Last year, ‘Women with Gunpowder Earrings’ directed by Farahmand attended the program.

This year’s festival includes Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon A Time in Hollywood’ and Joseph Gordon-Levitt plane thriller ‘7500’, which gets its world premiere at the Swiss showcase.
