Iran’s Siamand Rahman finished his campaign on a high note with a gold medal at the 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

On Friday, Rahman, a two-time Paralympics gold medalist, lifted 265kg on his second lift to secure a top-spot finish at the men’s +107kg contest before withdrawing from his third attempt.

Finishing behind Rahman was his compatriot Mansour Pourmirzaei who overcame 236kg for the silver with Iraqi Faris al-Aqil taking the bronze with 235kg.

Rahman’s medal took Iran’s gold tally to three as Rouhollah Rostami and Seyyed Hamed Solhipour had respectively topped the 80kg and 97kg weight divisions earlier in the competitions.

Nader Moradi (72kg) and Ali-Akbar Gharibshi (107kg) had added two silvers to Iran’s account with Amir Ja’fari settling for a 65kg bronze.

Having started on July 12, the competitions finish today in the Kazakhstan’s capital.
