A total of six medals – including four golds – gave Iran a top-spot finish at the 2019 Asian Para Open Taekwondo Championships in Amman, capital of Jordan.
Saeid Sadeqianpour (-61kg), Mohammad-Reza Sha’bani (-75kg) collected two gold medals in the K42 class contests with Mehdi Pour-Rahnama (-75kg) and Asghar Azizi (+75kg), competing in the K44 category, taking Iran’s gold tally to four.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Narimani (+75kg) took a silver in the K42 contests and Mehdi Bahrami Azar also grabbed a K43 +75kg silver.
Iran stood atop the overall standings with 34points, followed by Turkey (15pts) which won two golds and a bronze.
Kazakhstan garnered one gold, two silvers and a single bronze to stand third with 14 points.
A number of 149 taekwondokas took part in the one-day competitions on July 18.
