Zarif, Morales discuss ties, international issues

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Bolivian President Evo Morales discussed bilateral ties and international issues in a meeting in the South American country on Tuesday.

Zarif arrived in Bolivia on the last leg of his tour of Latin American nations to hold talks with senior officials of the country, according to IRNA.

Upon his arrival, Zarif was officially welcomed by Bolivian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Carmen Almendras.

After taking part in an annual meeting of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in New York, Zarif visited the Venezuelan capital of Caracas to attend Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) foreign ministers’ meeting.

He also met with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and First Vice President Delcy Rodriguez.

The top Iranian diplomat also visited Nicaragua on the second leg of his tour of Latin America.

On Monday, Zarif attended separate meetings with senior Nicaraguan officials, including Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, President of the National Assembly Gustavo Porras Cortes, Foreign Minister Denis Moncada and President of Central Bank of Nicaragua Leonardo Ovidio Reyes Ramirez.
