Jebrael Nokandeh, the museum head, made the statement in his meeting with Belgian Ambassador to Tehran Veronique Petit on Tuesday, ISNA wrote.
The museum’s officials for international affairs and officials of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization also attended the meeting.
During the visit, the Iranian officials and Belgian envoy discussed cooperation between museums and joint exhibitions in each other’s country.
Nokandeh expressed hope that Iran and Belgium will celebrate the 130th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2020 by holding joint cultural programs.
Touching upon Belgium’s participation in Iran’s archeological excavation and exploration, he said that the results are being kept in the National Museum of Iran.
Iran and Belgium have had close cultural and scientific ties that could be published and displayed in exhibitions, he proposed, adding the initiative would give history enthusiasts and researchers an easy access to them.
