Iranian experts have developed the technology to carry out specialized repairs to vibrators of Siemens gas turbines, said the managing director of the National Iranian Gas Transmission Company (NIGTC).
This was achieved after performing preventive maintenance on the gas turbines and overhauling them, added Saeed Tavakoli, Shana reported.
He noted that at present, domestic experts can perform preventive maintenance on gas turbines and overhaul them.
The NIGTC CEO added they are also capable of carrying out specialized repairs to the vibrator of Siemens SGT-600 industrial gas turbines.
A while ago, NIGTC experts and those of other Iranian firms carried out repairs to the turbine of the gas pressure booster facility of Jahrom Gas Power Plant in the southern Iranian province of Fars to minimize its thermal vibration.
This helped reduce the cost of repairing each turbine by €350,000, Tavakoli said.
Due to their thermal vibration, it had been impossible to use some of these turbines for several years, he noted. However, thanks to domestic experts’ capabilities, they have currently become operational.
Tavakoli stressed that Iran could transfer its technology in the field of repairing gas turbines to other countries.
“Close to 300 gas turbines are currently operating in the country’s gas transmission network.”
