Prince Andrew met with Ghislaine Maxwell after Epstein probe was reopened

Ghislaine Maxwell is at the centre of the Jeffrey Epstein controversy as she is accused of recruiting young women and underage girls for the disgraced financier’s sex trafficking ring.

Prince Andrew’s recent BBC Newsnight interview has sparked many questions. The main one is the story of Maxwell and Andrew, a ‘man of few friends’.

Reportedly, the Duke of York held a meeting with Maxwell - the daughter of the disgraced media tycoon Robert Maxwell - in London two weeks after the US Department of Justice revealed plans to reopen its probe into Epstein, Presstv Reported.

The Telegraph has reported that Maxwell, who is now at the centre of an FBI inquiry, made her last trip to the UK at the beginning of June.

On Saturday's BBC Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis, Andrew acknowledged meeting Maxwell but denied they discussed Epstein.

US lawmakers arrested Epstein on federal sex trafficking charges on July 6, a month after Maxwell and Andrew's meeting. Epstein killed himself in a Manhattan jail in August.

One of Epstein´s accusers, Virginia Giuffre-Roberts has claimed Ghislaine Maxwell recruited her to work as his masseuse when she was 15 years old. Giuffre-Roberts has alleged that a sexual encounter took place with Prince Andrew in Maxwell’s Belgravia house around 2001, when she was 17.

The 57-year-old British socialite is in hiding over her alleged role in the Epstein scandal. Although there has been speculation that Maxwell may end up cooperating with the FBI in return for some form of plea bargaining deal.

Sources close to her insist that, whatever happens, she will never drag the Prince into the inquiry not least because of her insistence that the claims that Prince Andrew had sex with Giuffre-Roberts on three occasions is false.

“It is impossible,” a source familiar with Maxwell told the Telegraph, “Her position is very clear: Prince Andrew did nothing wrong”.

Whatever fate awaits Maxwell, it is clear that the British dimension to the Epstein scandal has yet to be fully investigated.
