Iran conceded a defeat to Japan in its second match at the men’s competitions of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Asia Oceania Championships in Pattaya, Thailand.
On Sunday, the Iranian squad lost the match 51-71 to its East Asian rival, according to varzesh3.com.
Iranians had notched up a narrow 64-60 victory against China in their first match in the tournament on Saturday, thanks to Morteza Abedi who scored 27 points.
Iran is scheduled to take on Australia today in its third match.
In the women’s competitions, Iran eased past Cambodia 40-22 in its opening match and plays India today.
A total of 14 teams are participating in the men’s competitions of the tournament, while eight teams have taken part in the women’s contests.
The top four teams in the men’s competitions will secure their spots in Tokyo’s 2020 Summer Paralympics.
In the women’s contest, however, only three squads will earn a Paralympic spots.
