Iran, Pakistan navy chiefs discuss furthering cooperation

Commanders of Iran and Pakistan naval forces discussed collaboration between the two neighboring nations in a meeting in Islamabad.

The meeting was held between Iran’s Navy commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi and his Pakistani counterpart Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi at naval headquarters in Pakistan’s capital city, according to IRNA.

The senior military officials explored ways to increase the level of cooperation between the two countries’ marines.

The Iranian commander appreciated Pakistan for the role of its navy in helping to secure peace and stability in the region.

The navies of Iran and Pakistan enjoy strong bilateral cooperation.

In April, Admiral Mahmood Abbasi visited Iran to represent Pakistan in the 6th Indian Ocean Naval Symposium.

Last year, the deputy coordinator of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, visited Pakistan to attend the 10th International Defense Exhibition in Karachi.
