Managing Director of Iran’s official Islamic Republic News Agency Seyyed Zia Hashemi said that IRNA was prepared to expand cooperation with Indian media in order to help develop the two countries’ relations.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Indian Ambassador to Tehran Gaddam Dharmendra, which was held at IRNA’s headquarters in Tehran.

Hashemi said that cooperation between Tehran and New Delhi in Iran’s southeastern Chabahar Port received proper coverage by media. However, he noted that the two nations have further potentials for cooperation in many areas, which could be relayed through interaction between the Indian Embassy and IRNA.

The Indian ambassador for his part said that "India is committed to maintaining good relations with Iran, and we are doing everything we can to develop relations".

Referring to four meetings held between Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in recent years, the Indian envoy described the meetings as very productive.
