Iran’s western province of Kermanshah to cooperate with ECO on tourism

Tourism officials of Iran’s western province of Kermanshah announced their readiness to attract investments from the private sectors of member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), deputy director of Kermanshah Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department said on Saturday.

Asghar Rashno made the statement during the conference titled Tourism Investment Opportunities, held on Kish Island.

Tourism officials of Kermanshah and six other provinces, ambassadors and representatives of ECO member states and free trade zones staff attended the conference, IRNA wrote.

Rashno introduced 15 tourism projects of the province to the investors of the ECO member states.

He said that tourism exhibitions and conferences create opportunity to identify the investment projects on tourism, adding that organizing such events would be helpful to boost the industry in the region.

He added that Kermanshah will be the capital of rural ecotourism in year 2020.

The development of eco-tourism resorts, water tourism development around dams, Bisotun and Taq-e Bostan tourism corridor and how to overcome investment barriers in the province were the subjects investigated at the conference.

The provincial official said that tourism is of high significance for the country such that a tourism economy can be an appropriate substitution for Iran’s oil revenues.

Kermanshah is one of the ancient provinces located in western Iran. The long history of its art and culture has made it a treasure of magnificent historical monuments and attractions to visit. Out of 3,000 tourist attractions, this province embraces 716 monuments that have been registered on Iran’s National Heritage List.

Bisotun is its only cultural heritage registered on the UNESCO list until this moment.
