Attaché: Over 1,500 book titles on Iran available in India

Over 1,500 book titles on Iran have been published in India, Iran’s cultural attaché in New Delhi said.

Mohammad-Ali Rabbani made the statement on the sidelines of the 28th edition of New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) 2020, hoping that the number of Iranian books will increase in the South Asian country, according to IRNA.

Iranian Deputy Culture Minister for Cultural Affairs Mohsen Javadi, the head of Iran's Book House Institute, Niknam Hosseini-Pour, and Rabbani attended the opening ceremony of the book fair on January 4.

Rajab-Ali Salarian, who is in charge of Iran’s stall, has briefed the participating Indian publishers on Tehran International Book Fair, inviting them to attend the exhibition in the Iranian capital slated for next May.

The Institute of Iran’s Cultural Exhibitions, Hafez International Publication, and Soore Mehr Publishing Co. are showcasing 450 book titles at the Iranian stand.

Inaugurated by Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank,’ the 2020 edition of the book fair will close today at Pragati Maidan in Delhi.

Marking the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi, the book fair has been themed ‘Gandhi: The Writers’ Writer’.

The theme highlights the various facets of Mahatma Gandhi’s life and his influence on some of the major authors of Indian literature in the country and abroad. The fair will focus on the multi-dimensions of Gandhi as a writer, editor, journalist, publisher, printer as well as an excellent mass communicator.

Over 600 exhibitors are displaying their books in different languages of English, Hindi, Gujarati, Bangla, Maithili, Malayalam, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu in over 1,300 stalls at the venue.

Delegates from nearly 20 countries including China, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Iran, Nepal, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sri Lanka, the UAE, the UK, and the US are showcasing their publishing products.
