Iran, Iraq set to increase bilateral trade to &30 bn

Vice-President for the Executive Affairs Mohammad Shariatmadari said Tuesday that during a visit to Tehran by Iraqi First Vice-President Nouri al-Maliki, the two sides agreed to increase bilateral trade to &30 billion.

Speaking to reporters after Maliki was seen off at the end of his 3-day visit to Tehran, Shariatmadari said the visit indicated the strong resolve of both Tehran and Baghdad to deepen ties.
Maliki and the Iranian officials held consultations on future cooperation between the two neighboring countries following a recent visit to Iran by Iraqi Prime Minister Heydar al-Ebadi, Shariatmadari said.
He said that concurrent with Maliki's stay in Tehran, a joint conference of Iranian and Iraqi merchants was held in the Iranian capital.
