Maulvi Abdul Hasib, who translated the most read book from Arabic to Uzbek language in seven years, said he had consulted other religious scholars about his work, Pajhwok Afghan News reported.
He said the Quran had been translated into more than a hundred languages of the world and the Uzbek translation was direly needed.
Bunyadul Quran Madrassa chief said translation of Quran in native languages made it easy to understand the holy book.
Local clerics and civil society members praised Maulvi Abdul Hasib’s work. Mualvi Asadullah Jamali, the peace committee head, said it was for the first time in Afghanistan’s history that the holy Quran was translated into Uzbek language.
Syed Abdul Rashid, the Information and Cultural Director, called the manuscript a huge achievement in Afghanistan’s history.
He said 2,000 copies of the book’s Uzbek translation had been printed, but they were still insufficient.
