President of the Polo Federation Hojatollah Dehkhodaei said Chogan, a forerunner of Polo, was named in the 12th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage as Iran’s cultural heritage, contrary to claims made by some other countries, such as Azerbaijan.
Seven ancient trees including sycamore, cedar and tamarisk ― dating back to 1,500-170 years and located in Qaen, Tabas and Darmian, all in the eastern province of South Khorasan ― were registered on the National Natural Heritage List.
Torkaman Hand-Woven Carpet ― pertaining to Jargalan District of Bojnourd in North Khorasan Province ― was registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), said the director general of North Khorasan Industry, Mine and Trade Department.
Khuzestan and Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari provinces jointly registered 'Bazbazak Doll' on the National Heritage List, said Bahman Asgari Savadjani, the head of Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department.
Anveh Aqueduct, which originates from the northern slope of Evaz Mountain in Larestan, Fars province, has been identified, said director general of Fars Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department.
