First Iranian TV channel for Africa launched
The satellite television channel, Hausa TV, began experimental activities as the first Iranian television channel for Africa.

According to ISNA, Director of Hausa TV Mohammadreza Hatami said, "The network, which works under the supervision of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting World Service, has begun its activities in the virtual world and social networks in the first phase. After a short while, the satellite broadcasting of Hausa TV will go on stream in Hausa and English languages.

"The network's programs will include shows, documentaries, news, reports as well as movies and series."

Hausa is a Chadic language spoken in West Africa, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, Sudan, Togo and Togo. Approximately 50-60 million people have mastery over the language in varying degrees, of which it is the mother tongue to about 30 million.
