South Korea optimistic about Iran N-deal
The South Korean parliament speaker has expressed hope that a final accord between Iran and the P5+1 group would open a new chapter in regional as well as international relations.

Kang Chang-hee made the remarks in a Wednesday meeting with head of the Iran-South Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group Abouzar Nadimi in South Korea’s capital, Seoul.

The South Korean official also underscored that all of Iran’s nuclear activities are within the framework of international regulations, particularly the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Kang said Iran has proved its sincerity and resolve in its ongoing nuclear talks with the P5+1 group - Russia, China, Britain, France and the US plus Germany- expressing hope that the opposite side would contribute to the finalization of a comprehensive deal through seriousness and honesty.

Iran and the six world powers are seeking to clinch a comprehensive accord over Tehran’s nuclear program by June 30. Tehran and its negotiating partners have been working on the text of the final deal since they reached a mutual understanding on key parameters of such an accord in the Swiss city of Lausanne on April 2.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Kang touched upon Tehran-Seoul ties and called for the further enhancement of bilateral cooperation.

Given their special positions in Asia, Iran and South Korea enjoy great potential for the expansion of ties in all spheres, he said.

Nadimi, for his part, said that the promotion of ties with Asian countries, including South Korea, is among the top priorities of the Islamic Republic's foreign policy.

He further expressed the Iranian parliament's willingness to boost parliamentary relations with South Korea.
