Iran-Afghan movie submitted to Oscar
Iran-Afghan movie 'A Few Cubic Meters of Love', directed by Jamshid Mahmoudi, has been submitted to the 87th Academy Awards to contend in the category of the Best Foreign Language Film of the Year.

Mahmoudi told Mehr News Agency the movie is to participate in the Oscar as Afghanistan's representative.

He added the movie, a joint Iran-Afghanistan production, was recently screened in Afghanistan.

Asked about why the movie is representing Afghanistan at the Academy Awards, Mahmoudi said, "This is due to the screening date of the movie. Academy Awards' regulations mandate that only those movies which are screened in their countries before October 2 can be submitted to participate in Oscar. 'A Few Cubic Meters of Love' will be screened in Iran after the date and therefore cannot be submitted as Iran's representative."

A movie about Afghan immigrants, 'A Few Cubic Meters of Love' tells the story of an Afghan girl and an Iranian boy who live and work together illegally in Iran a workshop, he noted.

The cast includes Saed Soheili, Nader Fallah, Hasiba Ebrahimi and Masoud Mirtaheri.

The movie, a 90-minute feature film, won two Crystal Simorgh awards in the 2013 Fajr International Film Festival.
