Uzbek investors are keen on financing Iranian petrochemical projects, particularly, in the field of processing methanol to olefin, said a deputy oil minister.

Reza Norouz-zadeh, who was speaking to Shana on the outcome of his talks with Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister Alisher Sultanov, added, "Although Uzbekistan has gas reserves, the country is interested in investing in regions that, in addition to being home to gas resources, provide them with access to high seas."

Two representatives from Iran's National Petrochemical Company and Uzbekistan have been appointed to prepare the ground and plan for investments, he said.

Norouz-zadeh added Iran will present Uzbekistan with all the domestic petrochemical sector's projects whose preliminary feasibility studies have been carried out and has the potential to attract investments.

"This is to pragmatically establish the investment framework for the two countries."

On November 18, Iran's Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh met Sultanov and held talks on issues pertaining to oil industry and investment in its downstream sectors.
