Iran and South Korea signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) on Friday to boost health cooperation.

Iran’s Health Minister Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi and South Korean Health and Welfare Minister Park Neung-hoo attended the signing ceremony in the Asian country’s capital, Seoul, IRNA reported.

The two ministers also inked an MoU on cooperation in the field of health and medical equipment.

Another agreement was signed between Iran Health Insurance Organization and South Korea Health Insurance Review Agency (HIRA).

Hashemi expressed interest in using HIRA's experiences to upgrade Iran’s insurance industry and hailed transferring insurance knowledge and technology to Iran.

Meanwhile, HIRA chief Sung Tae Kim expressed hope for implementation of the MoUs signed between two sides.

Exchanging information and sharing experience in insurance activities, evaluating the quality of services and monitoring drug intake are among the articles of the MoU.

The two sides also reached agreement on construction of hospitals in Iranian provinces of Mazandaran and Fars.

Hashemi is visiting Seoul on the invitation of his South Korean counterpart.

During his three-day stay in the East Asian country, he is expected to take part in a conference on promoting medical and healthcare cooperation, pay a visit to a hospital and attend a Samsung medical and healthcare products fair.
