Iran’s eight-month petchem exports top $7b
Iran exported 14.46 million tons of petrochemical products worth $7.397 billion during March 21-November 21.

According to a report by on Monday, during the eight-month period, petrochemical complexes of Assalouyeh exported 7.25 million tons of petrochemicals worth $3.661 billion, while 4.167 million tons of products worth $2.173 billion were exported from Mahshahr petrochemical plants.

The report added that other complexes of Iran earned $1.563 billion as they exported over 3 million tons of petrochemical products in the said period.

The report added that 1.5 million tons of petchem products worth $858 million were exported during the month to November 21.

Zagros Petrochemical Complex was the main exporter of Iran with over 1.884 million tons of products ($781 million) followed by Bandar Iman Petrochemical Plant with 1.478 million tons ($712.593) of exported petrochemicals.

The report also added that Kharg Petrochemical Company earned $246.614 million as the firm exported 771,000 tons of its products during the eight months to November 21.

Petrochemical is Iran’s most important industry after oil and gas. State-owned National Petrochemical Company hopes to lift nominal output capacity to 120 million tons per annum by 2022, the end of Iran’s Sixth Five-Year Economic Development Plan.

Iran’s petrochemical production is forecast to reach 60 million tons by March 2018, as nominal output capacity is set to reach 72 million tons upon the launch of a slew of projects.

Ahmadreza Ashtar, the managing director of Kermanshah Petrochemical Industries Company said in late November that German petrochemical giants, namely Basel, TIB Chemical and the Dutch Stamicarbon petrochemical firm, have expressed readiness to supply the Iranian side with advanced technical expertise to extend the second phase of Kermanshah’s petrochemical complex.
