Iran’s int’l ranking in science production rises
Iran’s international ranking in science production has risen from 34 to 16, the Vice President for Technology Sorena Sattari said at the second Iran-Europe cooperation conference in Brussels.

Addressing the Second International Iran-Europe Economic and Technological Conference in Brussels, Sattari outlined Iran’s scientific and technological achievements in recent years.

Sattari delivered a speech at the opening of the two-day event which began on Thursday.

Iran ranks first in West Asia in terms of science output, with the number of its college students rising from 2.4 million to 4.8 million, Sattari said, according to IRNA.

Iran has made great progress in the fields of biotechnology, renewable energy, nanotechnology and stem cells, the Iranian first vice president said.

In Iran there are 47 million Internet users who constitute nearly half of the total internet users in the Middle East, he said, adding that Iran ranks first in the Middle East for production of biological drugs.

Iran has one of the most successful biotech companies with a young and skilled staff, averaging 33 years in age, exporting biological drugs to 10 countries, Sattari said.

The Second International Iran-Europe Economic and Technological Conference was underway in Brussels, from June 21 to 22.

The event was attended by Iranian Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari, who delivered a speech at the opening of the conference, outlining Iran’s scientific and technological achievements in recent years.
