Provincial official: Southeast Iran quake causes no casualties
The 4.1-magnitude earthquake that hit the southeastern Iranian city of Kerman on Sunday caused no casualties or damage to properties, said the head of the provincial crisis management department on Sunday.

Speaking to IRNA, Majid Saeedi said thanks to measures taken retrofit seismically and strengthen the buildings in rural areas of the province, they are currently, resistant to quakes measuring above five on the Richter scale.

An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale shook suburbs of Hajdak, a city in Kerman Province, on Sunday morning.

According to Iranian Seismological Center of the Institute of Geophysics of the University of Tehran, the epicenter of the quake was located at a longitude and latitude of 56.88 degrees and 30.78 degrees, respectively.

Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.

On November 12, 2017, a fatal 7.3-measuring earthquake hit the Iranian city of Salas Babajani in Kermanshah, western Iran, killing 620 people and injuring about 12,000 others.
