Honoring Amir Kabir respecting Iran’s progressive thoughts
Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Wednesday that honoring Amir Kabir amounts to respecting the lofty ideas and progressive and bright thoughts in Iran.

He made the remarks on the occasion of death anniversary of Amir Kabir, adding that Amir Kabir’s warm and fluent voice is still being heard from the depths of history, IRNA reported.

“Foreign Ministry has proximities with the name of Amir Kabir. One of the bright achievements of Amir Kabir during his glorious premiership is his efforts to promote foreign relations and presence in the global scene with the aim of maintaining Iran’s independence and safeguarding national interests,” he said.

Mirza TaghiKhanFarahani, better known as Amir Kabir (1807–1852), was chief minister to Naser al-Din Shah Qajar (Shah of Persia) for the first three years of his reign.

He is widely considered to be 'Iran's first reformer', a modernizer who was 'unjustly struck down' as he attempted to bring 'gradual reform' to Iran.

In the last years of his
life, he was exiled to Fin Garden in Kashan and was murdered with command of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar on January 10, 1852.
