Iran opens new port on Persian Gulf island
Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami inaugurated a 50,000-ton container dock on Negin Island in the Persian Gulf, in the southern province of Bushehr.

The implementation of the project, including a 300-meter dock, commenced about four years ago, reported ISNA.

With the new dock in operation, the annual container loading and unloading capacity for Bushehr Province will increase to 600,000 TEUs.

In January, Iranian Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Rastad, who is also the head of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization, said that close to $122.6 million worth of investments have been made on projects on Negin Island,” he added.

“Negin Island port is being constructed on 200 hectares of the island’s 470-hectare area. The rest of the land will be used to set up different industries,” Rastad added.
